Two Prescott schools locked down after threat

PRESCOTT, AZ - A 17-year-old girl was arrested Friday night after she "made up" a hoax about a man with a weapon coming to a Prescott high school.

According to Prescott police, the 17-year-old female student said she received a phone call from an individual who said, a brother of friend was coming to Prescott High School, and was "going to do some damage."

Prescott police set a perimeter around the school, as they tried to track down the person who made the threat.

Both schools were locked down because the female student said a man was coming to Prescott High School from the Taylor Hicks area, police said.

According to police, both schools were released from lock down around 3:15 p.m.

The 17-year-old was booked in Yavapai County Juvenile Detention on a felony charge of committing a hoax, police said in a statement.

According to police, no one else was involved in the hoax and that she actually called herself using a web based phone number.
