PRESCOTT, AZ - Authorities in northern Arizona say they're continuing to search for a Mayer man who's suspected in a homicide case.
Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say 29-year-old William Hewitt is believed to have killed 38-year-old Kristina Webb whose body was found about 1:30 p.m. Friday in a remote area south of Mayer.
Spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Hewitt was Webb's boyfriend and lived with the victim and her 5-year-old son in the Mayer area.
D'Evelyn said Webb had been shot. He did not say where the shooting occurred but did say the young boy was there when Hewitt killed his mother. The boy is currently in protective custody.
Hewitt was last seen in Mayer on Friday morning in his pickup truck.
Authorities say Hewitt's truck likely has faded Chino Valley Unified School District emblems on the doors.
They say the truck no longer belongs to the school district.
Sheriff's officials say Hewitt may be armed and should not be approached.
D'Evelyn said numerous calls had been received by YCSO and advised anyone who knows of Hewitt's whereabouts to call 911 immediately.
A murder warrant has been issued for the suspect's arrest.
