PD: Man broke into Prescott woman's home, attacked her

PRESCOTT, AZ - A man in Prescott has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a victim’s home and sexually assaulted her in the early Saturday morning.

Prescott police arrested 52-year-old Charles Howe who they say broke into a 61-year-old’s home as she slept on July 5 around 5 a.m.

According to officials, the victim was asleep at 4:30 a.m. when she was physically and sexually attacked by Howe. Police recovered a knife from the victim’s home which was used in the attack.

According to the Prescott Police Department, the victim made her way to her neighbor’s home after the attack, was bleeding and without clothing.

When officers arrived to the neighborhood around Valley Ranch Circle, they found Howe walking away from the scene, agitated and bleeding. Police said detained him after a physical struggle. 

The victim told the Prescott Police Department that she had befriended Howe three years ago and said Howe had become obsessed with her. She said Howe stalked her once she ended the friendship. The victim also had an active protection order against the suspect.

Howe was arrested and is facing aggravated assault and sexual assault charges. The victim was treated for her injuries, but was released from Yavapai Regional Medical Center West.
