Air support heading to Slide Fire near Sedona

PHOENIX - While hundreds of firefighters will be busy battling the Slide Fire from the ground another group of firefighters are getting ready to fight the fire from the air.

Fire officials said four planes will be deployed starting at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

3 P2V aircraft and one single engine plane will be flying out of Prescott.

Each P2V is capable of carrying 2,700 gallons of fire retardant.

Fire officials said they have not called in any DC-10 aircraft. A DC-10 is capable of carrying 12,000 gallons of fire retardant.
