PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - Authorities say two children suffered minor injuries when their school bus was struck by an SUV in Prescott Valley Thursday morning.
Prescott Valley police say the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lone Cactus and Spouse Drive.
According to police, the small SUV, driven by a Prescott Valley man, was southbound on Lone Cactus and failed to stop for the stop sign, hitting the school bus.
The bus was struck on the side.
Police say the driver of the SUV suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Two children, ages 6 and 11, suffered what were believed to be minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital, police said.
The rest of the children were put on another bus and taken to their school, Granville Elementary.
Police said there were 44 students on the bus.
Police said the driver of the SUV, 58-year-old Clifford Deane, was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. Investigators don't suspect impairment was a factor in the accident.
