LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ - Authorities say a plane crashed into a mountain Thursday near Kingman, Ariz., killing the pilot.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said a witness traveling on Interstate 40 reported seeing the plane crash into a mountain north of the Santa Fe Road exit around 12:10 p.m.
The 73-year old pilot, John Edward Sable, of Mohave County, was the only person on the plane and was killed in the crash.
Sable was reportedly flying from the Lake Havasu airport to Fort Mohave, officials said.
The plane was a 1972 Cessna 182p.
The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an investigation.
