Police are releasing the name of a man who died after falling at Grand Canyon National Park.

Officials at the park received reports around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday after 30-year-old Gom Dang of Ankeny, Iowa slipped at the rim near Mather Point.

According to authorities, the man fell 280 feet. Because the incident happened so late in the day, rangers decided to suspend the operation until Wednesday morning and were able to recover Dang's body using the helicopter.

An investigation is ongoing and no further information was available.
