Customs and Border Protection reports that officers at a Nogales crossing found hundreds of packages containing nearly 400 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a tractor-trailer rig carrying bell peppers.

A criminal complaint says officers found 388 pounds of meth in the trailer's front wall and rear doors Friday after an X-ray operator detected anomalies.

Customs and Border Protection says the seizure was the largest at an Arizona port of entry and estimated the drugs' value at over $1.1 million.

The complaint said the truck driver, 35-year-old Juan Rodolfo Lugo-Urias of Playas De Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, denied knowing drugs were in the trailer.

Court documents don't list a defense attorney who could comment on the accusations against Lugo-Urias.

He's charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
