PHOENIX - A citizens flood recovery information center is opening in New River, designed to help residents affected by recent flooding.
The center will be at the Daisy Mountain Fire Station and be open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management is coordinating with several county departments and private-sector partners.
They'll answer questions and find resources on a variety of flood-related issues, from roads and sand bags to drinking water and lost animals.
The information center will be staffed with employees from county Emergency Management and other departments.
About 5 inches of rain fell Aug. 19 around the town of New River, located some 30 miles north of Phoenix. That's more rain than that area saw during all of last summer's monsoon season.
