DPS: Plane makes emergency landing on Arizona highway

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ - Department of Public Safety officials said a small plane landed on a busy Arizona highway Sunday afternoon.

Officials said at approximately 2:40 p.m. crews were notified of a plane down on the southbound SR 64 at milepost 232.

DPS said the plane did not crash, but simply landed on the highway. The plane blocked both lanes of traffic while crews worked to tow it off the highway and take it to the Grand Canyon Airport.

Officials told ABC15 the pilot  thought the highway was part of the airport and was confused about where to land.

There were no injuries or damage reported.
