Arizona wildfire evacuees to return home

SHOW LOW, AZ - Officials say evacuees from a wildfire in Arizona's eastern White Mountains will be able to return home Thursday.

Fire commander Matt Reidy says the evacuation order for the communities of Red Cabin Ranch, Whiting Homestead and Carlock Ranch will be lifted at 8 a.m.

There are about three dozen summer homes in those areas.

The San Juan Fire located 18 miles southeast of Show Low has grown so but so has its containment.

Fire officials said Wednesday that the fire expanded to nearly 11 square miles, while containment was at 15 percent, up from 5 percent.

Firefighters have completed burnout operations to deprive the fire of fuel and to keep it from spreading outside the planned containment lines. They continue to mop up all areas of the fire.
