The Arizona Department of Public Safety is searching for a missing man with mental health issues.

Jonathan Richard Hemer was last seen Thursday night in Seligman.

According to DPS officials, he was driving on U.S. 93 when he somehow became separated from the person he was with. The following day, authorities found his truck abandoned on the side of the road and without gas.

It is believed that Hemer walked into the desert and either got a ride to Nevada or back to Arizona, DPS said.

Hemer reportedly has paranoid schizophrenia and a history of known drug abuse. He’s also without a cell phone and hasn’t contacted friends of family since leaving Austin, Texas earlier this week.

DPS says he was last seen wearing Redwing-type boots and jeans. He’s described as being a white male, about 5’8”, weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call the AZ Department of Public Safety at 602-223-2212 or PIO_Office@AZDPS.gov.
