A man and woman have been arrested after a traffic stop revealed the vehicle they were in was wanted in connection with a murder of a Maryland woman.

On Sunday around 7:14 a.m., an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was traveling east on Interstate 40 near milepost 31 near Kingman when he checked the license plate of a GMC Sonoma truck that was traveling in the same direction.

The trooper discovered the truck was wanted in connection with the murder of Rose McAllister, 81, who was murdered in Hancock, Maryland. A traffic stop was made and Jerry Smith Jr., 43, and Crystal Stanley, 39, were arrested. Both individuals are from Needmore, Pennsylvania and are now in the Mohave County Jail as they wait to be extradited back to Maryland where they are wanted for murder.
