House fire in Flagstaff leaves home heavily damaged

FLAGSTAFF - A house fire in Flagstaff that left a home with heavy damage is under investigation according to fire officials.

Seven units from the Flagstaff Fire Department were called to a residential house fire on Monday evening around 6 p.m. in the 5800 block of Abbey Road. 

Officials said the fire was complex and had the potential to spread. The U.S. Forest Service was called in to help firefighters extinguish small spot fires that arose from burning embers.

According to Flagstaff fire officials, other law enforcement agencies like the Summit Fire Department, Highlands Fire Department and the Guardian Medical transport were called in to respond to the fire or to cover calls in the city.

All off-duty firefighters were also ordered to return to duty.

Officials said at the time of the fire the residents weren’t home.

No other homes were damaged, and there were no injuries reported.

The Flagstaff Fire Department is investigating the fire.
