FLAGSTAFF - A 20-year-old mother from Flagstaff was arrested over the weekend for endangering her child and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Coconino County Sheriff's officials say that around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, a deputy noticed a vehicle driving southbound on Highway 89 towards Flagstaff.
The deputy noticed the driver making maneuvers similar to that of an impaired driver, so a traffic stop was conducted near Country Club Drive and Cortland Boulevard.
The deputy approached the vehicle by foot and the driver quickly left the stop.
The driver reportedly quickly entered and exited an apartment complex parking lot, continuing on to drive westbound in an eastbound lane, nearly hitting other officer's vehicles.
The driver, who also proceeded to run a red light, reached speeds of up to 80 miles per hour, according to officials.
The deputy following the vehicle began to discontinue the pursuit but learned that the driver had lost control and struck a curb, leaving the roadway.
Deputies found Chelsea Yazzie driving the vehicle, another 20-year-old female passenger and two children ages 2 and 11.
Deputies also found that the 2-year-old was not properly belted in her safety seat.
Both adults were incarcerated and the children were released to a family member, officials say.
