Flagstaff duck OK after shot with arrow

FLAGSTAFF, AZ - A wounded duck got a second chance at life after being shot by an arrow in Flagstaff.

According to Flagstaff Game and Fish spokeswoman Shelly Shepherd, the duck was shot in the meaty part of its chest.

Shepherd said officers found the wounded duck on the water off Old Walnut Canyon Road, but due to thin ice, were unable to catch him.

On Thursday, officers went back out to the lake and were able to successfully capture the duck with net gun equipment.

The duck was taken to a Flagstaff veterinarian who said the duck is doing fine and in good shape.

The veterinarian's office is expected to hold the duck for about a week and then release it.
