FLAGSTAFF, AZ - An inmate at the Coconino County Detention Facility in Flagstaff has died of an apparent suicide, according to prison officials.
The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said the inmate was found Sunday morning in his cell by officers during a scheduled security and welfare check, according to an update posted to the CCSO website.
Officials identified the inmate Monday as 39-year-old Alvin Franklin. Officials said he was in custody pending adjudication for misdemeanor trespassing.
The inmate was pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m. Sunday.
The cause of death is under investigation, said CCSO, but it appears to be suicide.
