Woman stung by bees 50 times while riding horses in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Authorities say two women were attacked by bees Thursday night while riding horses in Scottsdale.

According to spokesman Pete Zick with the Rural Metro Fire Department, a 61-year-old woman was stung more than 50 times around 8 p.m. near 136th Street and Rio Verde Drive.

The other woman suffered a lower leg injury when she jumped from her horse trying to get away from the bees, Zick said.

They are awake and alert, Zick said. Both women were transported to Thompson Peak Hospital in Scottsdale.
