Woman escapes kidnapping attempt while jogging in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale police say they have identified and arrested a man suspected of trying to kidnap a woman who was out jogging Tuesday night.

Police Sgt. Mark Clark said the man was arrested just after 7 p.m. Wednesday near Alma School Road and Dynamite Boulevard.

He has been identified as 22-year-old David Vincent Talkington. Police say he lives in an unincorporated part of Maricopa County near Scottsdale.

A 19-year-old woman escaped from the man after he tried to pull her into his car.

The woman was jogging along Dynamite Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday when she passed a parked car. The suspect got out of the vehicle and grabbed her, pulling her backward, police said.

She managed to fight her way free before being pulled into the car.

The suspect got back in the car and fled the area, according to police.

Clark said since the story was made public, authorities have had six different people come forward to say that a similarly described suspect/car had approached and/or grabbed them.

Clark said Talkington admitted to being involved in six other cases of assault and indecent exposure.

There was no immediate word on what charges Talkington may be facing.
