SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Valley teen is getting ready for the trip of a lifetime – hiking the Grand Canyon. But Anthony Castle is going to do it in a wheelchair.
Castle suffers from a degenerative form of muscular dystrophy. As he gets older, he’s losing mobility.
A crew of more than 30 volunteers, many of which are advanced hikers, are going to help Anthony complete his goal.
He’ll also be using a special wheelchair with poles that allow it to be pulled, pushed and carried over obstacles.
His mom says it’s been a daunting task putting the trip together, but this weekend will be worth it.
