Teen injured while mountain biking on Scottsdale trail

SCOTTSDALE. AZ - A 15-year-old has been taken to the hospital after suffering injuries while riding his mountain bike on a Scottsdale trail on Sunday.

Scottsdale fire Capt. Danny Ables said the department’s Technical Rescue Team and paramedics responded around 12:30 p.m. to the Browns Ranch area of the Scottsdale Preserve where the teen had been riding his mountain bike on the Hackamore Trail.

Ables said the victim was about a half mile in from the trailhead.

Paramedics cared for the teen while the Technical Rescue Team prepared the patient for transport out of the preserve to a waiting ambulance.

The teen was taken to a Scottsdale hospital in stable condition with minor injuries, according to Ables.

Ables said with the warmer weather, the department is seeing more activity on the trail systems and reminds everyone that while out hiking or doing other activities to let someone know where you are going and what time you are expected to return.

He also said never leave without a cell phone and bring plenty of drinking water, along with sunscreen, a hat and proper hiking shoes.
