Scottsdale police search for suspect in stabbing of 75-year-old man

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale police are looking for the public's help to locate a suspect who stabbed an elderly man early Monday morning.

Police say the 75-year-old man was walking near Hayden and Cactus roads just before 6 a.m. when a dark colored two-door vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Hayden Road stopped in front of the victim as he was about to cross Cactus Road in the crosswalk.

The driver jumped out and stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a small blade knife.

Police say the suspect immediately got back into the car and sped off westbound on Cactus Road.

The suspect gave no indication as to why he targeted the victim since nothing was taken or demanded, police say.

The victim felt his wound was minor and continued his walk home. He then drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident, the suspect vehicle or anything suspicious in the area at the time to call the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000 or 480-312-TIPS.
