Scottsdale health care system gets national recognition

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Valley health care system has earned a national recognition.

Scottsdale Healthcare is now the only health system in Arizona with all of its hospitals earning Magnet recognition.

Hospital officials say "Magnet" is the nationally acknowledged gold standard for nursing care.

Officials also say earning the designation is not easy, there are rigorous site inspections and more than 5,000 pages of documentation required to apply.

There are only 21 other health care systems in the country that have earned Magnet status.

The Magnet hospitals include Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center and Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital.
