Scottsdale FD rescues dog off Gateway Loop trail after owner calls in

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale paramedics had to rescue a dog off a Valley mountain after it appeared to be in distress.

Scottsdale Battalion Chief Brian Read said crews responded to Gateway Loop trail after a hiker called with concerns about their dog Sunday morning.

Crews instructed the caller to find shade and wait for them to come up. Read said officials used a "Big Wheel" to assist the dog down the trail.

Scottsdale Fire said the dog appeared to be in "good condition" and advised the owner to follow-up with a vet.

Read said this is a good time to remind hikers to take care of and make preparations when hiking with pets.
