Scottsdale FD: Pit bull bites 5-year-old in face

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A 5-year-old was treated at the hospital after being bitten in the face by a pit bull on Saturday.

The incident occurred in a church parking lot around 4:30 p.m. near McDonald Drive and Pima Road.

According to the Scottsdale Fire Department, the child was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said the boy has a very minor injury.

Clark said apparently the boy was chasing the dog and the dog turned back and snapped at the boy.

Melissa Gable with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control said the dog is a family pet and back home in quarantine.

Gable said the officer on the scene determined the dog was not an immediate threat and allowed the owners to take the dog home.

Clark said no police action is being taken over the incident.
