Scottsdale fatal crash: 11-year-old girl killed in Scottsdale crash

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - An 11-year-old girl was killed in a car crash Saturday afternoon near Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak roads.

Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said 44-year-old Julie Wagner of Scottsdale was turning left from Scottsdale Road to Los Portones Drive when her vehicle was struck by another vehicle driven by 61-year-old Christopher Fox, an Arkansas resident.

Clark said there were five juvenile passengers in Wagner's vehicle.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and come to rest on the east side of Scottsdale Road.

Firefighters responded and treated Wagner and her five passengers. Clark said all six were taken to Valley hospitals by ambulance and helicopter.

Wagner and three of the girls received minor injuries. The fourth received a fractured pelvis, Clark said.

Clark said 11-year-old Ashley Wagner did not survive the crash. The victim was earlier identified by police as being 14 years old. That child is a sister of the victim.

Scottsdale Road was closed for four hours for the investigation.

Clark said everyone was wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the accident. He said police have not determined whether speed played a factor in the collision.
