Saguaro High School football game clean after accusations of dirty play

Scottsdale - It was the first time to take the field for defending state champs Saguaro High School since facing accusations of dirty play over the past two weeks.

They clobbered the team from Fountain Hills High 63-0, but more importantly escaped any new accusations that its players take cheap shots on their way to victory.

Last week it was a different story.  Saguaro played Tempe High in a game that ended before the first half when the Tempe team walked off the field, forfeiting the game because of concerns for their players safety.

Four Tempe players were injured and two of them were taken to the hospital.

"I think it was just guys playing hard when one team was undersized," said parent Barry DeMoss.  He went onto say that that both teams received the same amount of penalties.

"We consider the matter closed," said Saguaro Athletic Director Nathan Slater in a written statement that included information that they fully cooperated with the Arizona Interscholastic Association's investigation into Tempe High game and that the school and team were focused on the future.

It is actually Tempe High that may be in trouble for leaving last week's game before the conclusion.
