Police investigate HAZMAT situation near Scottsdale Fashion Square

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Scottsdale Fire Department and its Hazardous Materials team were called to an area near Scottsdale Fashion Square to investigate an unknown odor Wednesday night.

Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark said crews made evacuations at the Maya condominium complex near Camelback Road and Miller Road.

Battalion Chief Roderick Thompson said crews evacuated six residents from several units while they identified the source. The odor was determined to be the result of workers clearing clogged plumbing.

Thompson said all evacuated residents were allowed to return to their units.

There were no injuries to report.
