PD: 10 Scottsdale homes burglarized in recent months

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale police say 10 Scottsdale homes have been burglarized in recent months, so they are urging residents to take extra precautions.

"We couldn't see them on our [security] cameras," said Jeff Trimino, 17. "They knew what they were doing."

Trimino told ABC15 that his house was hit by the elusive burglars on Saturday night.

"They took a couple of watches," he said.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, all the burglaries took place in the area between Shea Boulevard and Mountain View Road from 108th Street to 128th Street. They started in December 2012 and the most recent incident was in early February.

Police said in each case, entry was made from the backyard by a smashed-in window or through an unlocked door.

Most of the items stolen have been taken from the master bedroom.

Police urge residents to keep jewelry out of plain sight and lock up valuables in a safe. They also encourage functioning house alarms, motion lights, locked gates, and timed lights.
