PD: 2 killed, 2 hurt in Scottsdale crash when SUV hits tree

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Police say two people have died and two others were injured in a Sunday afternoon crash in Scottsdale.

Officer David Pubins, spokesman for the Scottsdale Police Department, said a white Ford SUV was traveling northbound on Scottsdale Road when the driver lost control, hit the median and crashed into a tree.

Pubins said the 46-year-old female driver was declared dead at the scene. Three adult passengers were transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, where a 63-year-old male passenger later died.

The other two passengers are both male and have non life-threatening injuries, according to Pubins.

Northbound Scottsdale Road between McCormick and Royal Palm will reopen at approximately 5:15 p.m., Pubins said.

Pubins said speed is likely a factor in the crash, and alcohol cannot be ruled out as a contributing factor at this point.
