SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Thousands of people wearing the color for the third annual green out at the Waste Management Open in Scottsdale Saturday. The event is held to support the green efforts at the tournament and for the state of Arizona.
For every person who sports green whether its a shirt, shorts, hat or shoes, the tournament host thunderbirds will donate to three non profits including keep Phoenix beautiful, Arizona forward and keep America beautiful.
Golf fans came out in all different shades and variations of green to support the cause.
"I've seen people wearing crazy green hats and neon colored pants. It's a lot of fun," said one fan.
Last year green out raised 50 thousand for keep Phoenix beautiful. With record highs for crowds this year, they're hoping to raise a lot more.
Officials say over 179,000 people showed up to the Phoenix Open on Saturday beating a record set during the 3rd round of the 2012 Open.
