SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Authorities said a missing 76-year-old Scottsdale man has been found after he went missing from an assisted living center Thursday.
Austin Gittens, 76, was reported missing around 4 a.m. Thursday from the Sanctuary, an assisted living center near Scottsdale and Roosevelt Roads in Scottsdale, said Officer David Pubins. He was last seen around 2 a.m.
Adam Weedy, 36, of Scottsdale, said he recognized Gittens walking near 68th Street and McDowell after seeing our story on ABC15.com.
Weedy said he was out getting coffee when he noticed a man with his hands on his cheek and "looked a little confused." He opened our story, looked at the description and contacted Scottsdale police.
"I'd do it for anybody," said Weedy.
Gittens was taken back to the assisted-living facility by police and was not in need of any medical attention, said Pubins.
Gittens is insulin-dependent and had his last injection Wednesday around 5 p.m. He was last seen around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
