A man and his dog accidentally found themselves in a scary game of fetch along a canal in Scottsdale on Wednesday morning.

According to Scottsdale Fire officials, crews from Tempe and Scottsdale responded to a call of a water rescue near Pima Road and McDonald Drive.

When they arrived, they found a group of golfers helping a dog out a canal and a man still in the water.

Fire crews were able to use a ladder to get the man out of the water safely.

Apparently the man accidentally bounced a tennis ball into the water and the dog jumped in after it, so the man jumped in to save the dog.

Fortunately, neither suffered injuries during the ordeal.
