SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Black Friday shopping has begun and it's not even Thanksgiving.
While big box retailers are wooing shoppers with their deals, local independently owned merchants are fighting for the Black Friday dollar hoping to boost their own sales.
"There are plenty of local, mall brick and mortar stores and boutiques in the Valley who offer those same mega sales," said Donna Maydew with Orca Communications.
According to Maydew, The Pink Boutique started competing with big box stores in 2010 for Black Friday sales and it paid off.
The locally owned business surpassed even the national average with an increase of 20 percent of sales from Black Friday.
You can compare locally owned merchants with big box stores by going to nosaleisfinal.com and punching in the product you're looking for.
