HAZMAT crews investigate possible chemical leak at water treatment facility in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - HAZMAT crews from Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe are on the scene of a possible chemical leak at a water treatment facility in North Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Fire Battalion Chief Chris Schibi said the Scottsdale Fire Department was dispatched to the facility north of the Loop 101 and Pima Road after an automated alarm detected the presence of a chemical.

Schibi said crews are working together to isolate the problem and determine any other needs.

Authorities said there is no impact to any areas outside of the water treatment facility itself.
