SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The lone survivor of the Granite Mountain Hotshots was in Scottsdale Friday to speak at a fundraiser to raise money for the families of his fellow firefighters.
McDonough was approached by stranger, Robert Andrews, four days after the Yarnell Hill Fire tragedy.
Andrews told him he wanted to host a charity golf tournament to raise money.
On Friday afternoon, 160 golfers played in a tournament at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club.
"We can't bring them back, but we can remember them in an amazing way," said McDonough.
A flag, with each of the fallen firefighters' names, stood tall at each hole.
McDonough didn't let his novice golf skills to get the better of him.
Instead he took great pride, in joining others to honor his brothers.
The Southwest Section PGA and Gainy Ranch Club partnered for the 9-hole tournament. Over $100,000 was raised for the victims' families.
