SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Authorities say a Scottsdale intersection is back open Thursday afternoon after an investigation into a jug thrown out a car window.
Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins said a 20-year-old woman was waiting for a bus at Hayden and McDowell roads around noon when a person in a passing vehicle threw a gallon-sized plastic jug out of his window.
The jug struck the ground, broke open and caused powder to get onto the victim, Pubins said.
The victim then rode the bus to her work and walked to Scottsdale Healthcare - Shea Medical Center to be treated for neck irritation, according to Pubins.
The incident forced authorities to shut down the intersection for two hours to test the substance thrown from the vehicle.
Units from Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix fire departments were at the scene.
Tests conducted at the scene determined the substance was safe for the public.
An investigation into the possible suspect is ongoing.
