SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Three people are dead and another person was injured after an accident in Scottsdale Saturday afternoon.
Scottsdale fire Battalion Chief Kelly Baggs said the single-vehicle rollover occurred at 141st Street and Rio Verde Drive.
Baggs said there were four patients. One died at the scene and three were taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn. Two of the people transported from the scene died at the hospital.
Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins said two of the deceased are children. Initially, police said all occupants were adults.
Pubins said the westbound Dodge pickup had lost control and rolled.
Pubins said the adult male driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 36-year-old Greg Casillas of Waddell.
The rear seat passengers, two girls ages 11 and 12, also died. Pubins said one of the girls was not wearing a seatbelt and was also ejected from the truck. They were identified as Alyssa and Leonor Bravo.
The children's father was also in the pickup truck. He was able to get himself out of the vehicle and suffered minor injuries, Pubins said. He was identified as 39-year-old Manuel Bravo of Phoenix.
Pubins said it is believed that alcohol and weather were factors in the accident.
Rio Verde was closed between 136th and 144th streets for over six hours during the investigation.
