SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Scottsdale homeowner got a rude awakening overnight when a vehicle slammed through a block wall into the backyard.
Scottsdale police Officer David Pubins said the male driver was traveling northbound on 131st Way near Via Linda when he failed to negotiate a right turn and hit the cinder block wall.
After the Ford Expedition went through the wall it flipped over and fell about four to five feet.
The homeowners came out to find the driver standing in the backyard with minor injuries.
Pubins said the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment.
He was taken to a Scottsdale hospital to be treated.
The driver was later arrested for DUI and criminal damage, as well as several civil violations, according to Pubins.
The homeowners were not hurt, but there was extensive damage to the wall and some to the house.
Pubins said it took three hours to get the vehicle out of the yard.
The name of the driver was not released.
