Dogs to get a taste of winter in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Scottsdale will become a winter wonderland with enough snow to build Frosty the Snowman on June 26 when Raintree Pet Resort hosts its bi-annual “Snow Day For Dogs."

Five tons of snow will be dropped off at the center for pets to merrily frolic in, all in an effort to combat the heat in the Valley.

According to Lisa Garr, snow day is one of the livelier days for pets at Raintree. To participate, pet owners have to purchase a snow voucher for $10 as well as pay for half or full doggie daycare. Pets can play by themselves or in groups, and have to be up-to-date on their shots to participate.

While the big dogs get a taste of winter in the snow, the small dogs will play in the swimming pool and splash pad enjoying the summer sun. The dogs are rotated in and out until the snow melts in the early afternoon between 1 - 2 pm.

“[It’s to] give the dogs something unusual for fun to embrace the beginning of summer,” Garr said.
