Body of Rebecca Zahau to be exhumed after death at Coronado mansion owned by Scottsdale CEO

CORONADO, CA - The body of a woman found dead in July at a San Diego mansion owned by a Scottsdale businessman will be exhumed, according to her family.

Rebecca Zahau, 32, was found naked, bound and hanging from a balcony at the Coronado mansion on July 13.

After weeks of investigating, detectives ruled her death as a suicide but her family disagrees, claiming she did not take her own life.

Zahau's family recently set up a website, RebeccaZahauFund.com in an effort to raise money to have her body exhumed and a new autopsy conducted.

Tuesday, Mary Zahau-Loehner issued a statement saying, "I want to thank for all the support and donation we have received. Due to the generosity of the public, we will be able to proceed with exhumation of Becky to find the truth of her death. Dr Wecht has been kind and generous to help us with an independent autopsy."

Well known pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht has volunteered his services to conduct an autopsy for free.

Wecht is known for his investigations into the death of JonBenet Ramsey and President Kennedy, along with the OJ Simpson trial.

Zahau was buried at a Missouri cemetery.

Zahau was the girlfriend of Scottsdale pharmaceutical CEO Jonah Shacknai, the owner of the home.

Two days before Zahau's death, Shacknai's 6-year-old son Max fell down the master staircase and did not survive his injuries.

According to published reports, talk show host Dr. Phil is helping the Zahau family in their push for new information and plans to have them on his show later this month.

"We would appreciate further donations and support in anyway. The venture of Justice for Rebecca is going to be long and challenging. This is only the beginning of that journey and it is possible due to the tremendous support and generosity of the public, experts, news media, and our attorney Anne Bremnar," said Zahau-Loenher in the statement.

It's unknown when the body will be exhumed.
