SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Did you attend the Barrett-Jackson auto auction this year? If you did, you might have noticed a record-setting amount of bids.
The auction recorded its highest sales ever with sales exceeding $113 million, said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. Nearly 1,400 cars were sold and 300,000 people attended the six-day event.
The top five bids at the auction were:
- 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 2 Door Coupe, sold for $3,850,000
-1969 Chevrolet Corvette #57 Rebel Convertible Race Car, sold for $2,860,000
-1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, sold for $2,090,000
-1998 Ferrari F300, sold for $1,870,000
-1963 Shelby Cooper Monaco King Cobra, sold for $1,650,00
"This was a huge year for Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Jackson said. "We sold some great cars for charity, attendance exceeded 300,000 and the celebrity turn-out was great."
The six-day event raised over $4.4 million for charity, according to a Barrett-Jackson's news release.
Some of the celebrities who attended the event included Rusty Wallace, Jeff Gordon, Rick Hendrick, Patrick Peterson, Bubba Watson, Mike Bibby, Gene Simmons, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Sir Stirling Moss and Frankie Muniz.
The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company was established in 1971 and is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company specializes in providing products and services to astute classic and collector car owners and automotive enthusiasts around the world, the company says.
