Who doesn't love a good drink?
Let me ask it again: who doesn't enjoy a good drink? I'm not talking about those burning, awful vodka shots you enjoyed one too many times in college, or the occasional Long Island Iced Tea that makes you feel sorta fancy.
I'm talking about a drink that takes a few more seconds to make, but taste delicious.
Just in time for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, John Cristie, beverage director at the newly-opened Second Story Liquor Bar in Old Town Scottsdale , shows us three of their specialty drinks that you can even make at home.
1) Corpse Reviver #2
How to make:
Pour equal parts (1 ounce) of gin, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice and Creme de Violette into a Boston shaker. Shake vigorously. Then double-strain into a glass. Garnish with a cherry.
2) Blueberry Cobbler
Muddle 5-8 blueberries into a glass with three lime wedges. Add in 3/4 ounce of simple syrup (water and sugar mix), 2 ounces of dark rum. Then shake and double-strain into a Collin's glass. Add in a little bit of club soda to give it some bubbles. Garnish with a blueberry stick (blueberries on a toothpick).
3) Ginger Rogers
How to make:
Muddle fresh ginger and a dash of cranberry bitters into a glass. The cranberry simply adds color. Then add four dashes of Rhubarb bitters for flavor. Add .5 ounce of fresh lemon juice and simple syrup (water and sugar mix). Then add 1.5 ounces of Hendricks gin. Shake using a Boston shaker and double-strain. Finish with a little bit of Cava Rose. Garnish with a thick lemon twist.
The Second Story Liquor Bar is located in Old Town Scottsdale right above Gelato Spot.
