Phoenix car fire leads police to bodies at Paradise Valley home

PARADISE VALLEY, AZ - An investigation is underway Tuesday after two bodies were found inside a house that was on fire in Paradise Valley Monday.

Paradise Valley police officers said Phoenix police responded to a car fire Monday morning in north Phoenix.

No occupant was inside the vehicle found burning behind the Goodwill store near 7th Street and Union Hills.

Phoenix police discovered the car was registered to a home in Paradise Valley and contacted Paradise Valley police.

When Paradise Valley police responded to the home, near 40th Street and Stanford Drive, they found the house was on fire.

Two burned bodies were discovered inside the residence. Identities of the victims are unknown.

Neighbors said a couple had lived in the home for years.

"I saw smoke coming out of the house," George Sorenson said. "I had no idea what was going on.  I thought they had just a fire in the house. Scary. I just can't believe they are dead. I have [known] them forever."
