PD: 1 killed in crash involving scooter near Paradise Valley

PARADISE VALLEY, AZ - One person has died after his or her scooter apparently crashed into another vehicle Monday morning in Paradise Valley.

Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle around 7:38 a.m. near North Tatum Boulevard and East Lincoln Drive, said Lt. Michael P. Cole, spokesman for Paradise Valley Police Department.

A driver traveling southbound on Tatum Boulevard was attempting to make a left turn onto Lincoln Drive when he was struck by another motorist on a scooter. That driver on the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene, said Cole.

The driver in the other vehicle was not injured, he said. The Paradise Valley Police Department's Fatal Accident Team is investigating.

The intersection remains closed while authorities continue to investigate. The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
