Paradise Valley police officer given life-saving award for saving elderly man's life

PARADISE VALLEY, AZ - A Paradise Valley police officer was given a life-saving award after she saved an elderly man's life by performing CPR, according to Community Resource Officer Kevin Albert.

Officer Nichole Hanson was dispatched to a home near north 36th Street and east Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley where a 70-year-old man had collapsed, was unconscious and not breathing, he said.

Officer Hanson arrived to find family members incorrectly performing CPR so she took over until emergency medical services arrived. Medics were able to restart the man's heart and transported him to a local hospital.

Hanson received the award last week at a supervisor's meeting.
