Paradise Valley officer receives lifesaving award for saving unconsious man's life

PARADISE VALLEY, AZ - The Paradise Valley Police Department presented a lifesaving award to an officer for her quick action to save the life of an unconscious elderly man.

Officer Nichole Hanson was dispatched to a call of a 70-year-old male who was not breathing near 36th Street and Lincoln Drive in December of 2013.

Upon the officer’s arrival, she saw family members incorrectly performing CPR on the man who was lying on the floor.

She took over performing chest compressions until EMS arrived at the location where they were able to restart the man’s heart and obtain a pulse.

Officer Hanson is credited with providing EMS the opportunity to return a heart rhythm to the man.
