According to the Paradise Valley Unified School District, several football players have been disciplined after a hazing incident at a camp in California.

The incident occurred at a football camp in El Cajon, California. After investigation, the students responsible were found to be in violation of the district policy and were appropriately disciplined, according to a press release from the school.

Eight students will not be returning to the football team for the 2016 season.

The police department said what happened "could be considered criminal in nature," though the decision on any charges would be left to the district attorney.

"We have some other interviews to do, and that will help us determine exactly what happened," said Lt. Walt Miller with the El Cajon Police Department. "Some physical battery occurred...nobody was hospitalized, nobody needed medical treatment or anything like that."

Police said they were still investigating if any of hazing was done with a component of sexual gratification.
