A 20-year-old caretaker from Phoenix was arrested Wednesday after wrongfully spending thousands of dollars belonging to an older couple.

According to Paradise Valley Police Department, a family member alerted authorities of suspicious activity on her parents' credit card in late November. Similar activity was also found on the parents' checking account.

Video surveillance from one of the transactions with the credit card showed Jessie Louise Denton, the couple's new caretaker.

On Dec. 16, detectives located and interviewed Denton, who admitted to spending more than $12,000 of their money on her own rent and car payments.

She was booked into jail on felony charges of forgery, credit card fraud and theft, theft by misrepresentation and aggravated identity theft.
