Deadly rollover shuts down SR 87 in Fountain Hills

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - Department of Public Safety officials say two people are confirmed dead after a semi truck and car collided on southbound SR 87 at milepost 179 Tuesday night.

According to DPS spokesperson Raul Garcia, a four-door sedan was traveling on Center Street approaching SR 87, when it failed to stop or yield to oncoming traffic.

The sedan entered the intersection and was struck by a truck tractor.

Both of the occupants in the sedan were wearing seat belts, but died at the scene.

The occupants inside the sedan have been identified as 85-year-old Janie Sipple and 85-year-old Earl Beasaw.Sipple and Beasaw were both from Mesa.
